PRAISED FOR HIS “POWERFUL BUT RICHLY TONED VOICE” AND “ROBUST, IMMERSIVE SOUND”

Welsh-German baritone Thomas read Music and German at the University of Bristol before studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he graduated with a distinction on the Artist Masters programme. He studies with Professor Janice Chapman and Robert Dean.

Thomas has been making a name for himself both in the UK and on the continent. He has been praised for his ‘powerful but richly toned voice’ (Cambrian News) and ‘robust, immersive sound’ (Badische Neueste Nachrichten). Recent Solo highlights include Brahms Ein deutsches Requiem (Bristol Choral Society), Duruflé Requiem (Vasari Singers), Handel Messiah (Trinity Choir, Fareham), Elgar The Dream of Gerontius and Walton Belshazzar’s Feast (Vivace Chorus). While at Guildhall, Thomas sang Dr Caius Die lustigen Weiber von Windsor, Marcello La Bohème and Malatesta Don Pasquale. Recent opera roles include Dr Falke Die Fledermaus (Schlossfestspiele Ettlingen), Don Giovanni Don Giovanni (Berlin Opera Academy), Guglielmo Così fan tutte (Love Opera), Alfio Cavalleria Rusticana (North Wales Opera) and The baritone Opera in the Garden (Rogue Opera). 

Thomas is also an experienced choral singer, having been a member of the National Youth Choir of Wales, where he won the Keith Griffin Award for Choral Singing. He has toured with the Marian Consort and the BBC Singers and is a member of the professional choir at St Bartholomew the Great, Farringdon. In 2023 he looks forward to performing Elijah with the Cambridge based Choir 2000 and Pagnotta La Frascatana with New Chamber Opera.
